Amid reports of being hated by TODAY show staffers, Matt Lauer was praised by a current and former colleague.

The 54-year-old's reputation for being a diva on-set was denounced by his TODAY co-host and weatherman Al Roker and former co-host Katie Couric.

According to Roker, rumors of Lauer having a high maintenance attitude with staffers is "just crock.'"

In an upcoming report in the New York Post's Page Six Magazine, Roker shared a tale of when he discovered Lauer's sensitive side. He explained that they were traveling together when the weatherman discovered Lauer crying while peering over his laptop.

"I'm like, 'What the heck,' Roker told Page Six. 'He's watching 'The Notebook,' and the tears are just flowing."

Couric shared tales about a memorable trip to Florida, where Lauer secretly recruited hotel staff to scatter pictures of himself hidden around her room.

"He had someone put one under my pillow with things like, 'Hi, look who you're sleeping with tonight' written on it," Couric told the magazine. "He had someone put one on the minibar that said, 'Get out of here.' The piece de resistance was when I lifted up the toilet seat and there he was. They had taped a photo of him under the toilet, and it said, 'Yep, here I am, too.''

The interview with Couric and Roker will be featured in the upcoming Page Six Magazine on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The issue will arrive on newsstands just after NBC executive Alexandra Wallace denied a report about secret plans to fire Lauer.

"There is absolutely no truth to this," Wallace told Page Six of New York Post. "There have been some recent outrageous claims regarding Matt and the 'Today' show, and an awful lost of piling on from nameless, faceless sources. There stories are wrong and irresponsible."

Lauer has been receiving backlash ever since Ann Curry's dismissal from the popular morning show program in late June. He was negatively criticized on Twitter for his TODAY coverage of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade.
