Any chance of Witches of East End returning to television? It seems more unlikely at this point.

Network Chief Says 'Witches Of East End' Was The Hardest To Cancel

The series that got canceled last fall after two seasons has been gaining a good haul of attention following the announcement that it would not be renewed for a third year. This included plenty of social media outrage as well as an online petition, which has reached close to 200,000 signatures to date.

But no good news has been delivered in any headlines. And there's a good chance there never will be because one of the main stars from the former supernatural drama is moving on to a new TV series.

'Witches Of East End' Petition Keeps Getting Signatures, But Is It Too Late?

Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who played Freya in the Lifetime program, has joined the cast of the anticipated series Supergirl. Entertainment Weekly announced on Monday that the actress will be playing Lucy Lane, the sister of Lois.

Lucy is described as a "brash, funny, beautiful" as well as "strong, smart and successful in her own right." The character will also share a connection with Jimmy Olsen and is coming to town to fix a certain wrong.

When Lucy shows up in the third episode, it definitely sounds like she'll be a character who audiences will enjoy watching.

While this is good news for Dewan-Tatum and for the Supergirl fans, this probably diminishes the chances for Witches of East End returning for more episodes.

Dewan-Tatum isn't the only one who's moving on from the Beauchamp family; Julia Ormond, who played Joanna, has joined a thriller pilot called Incorporated.
