According to a new report, Smith and Kaepernick engaged in a fight on the practice field earlier this week over Kaepernick's alleged relationship with Smith's ex-girlfriend, Nessa.

"Aldon and Colin had an altercation on the field during a practice on Tuesday," reported TMZ Sports, and, claimed their source, "players had to pull them apart."

TMZ Sports claimed Smith and Nessa, who hosts the reunion shows for MTV reality shows, including Teen Mom, The Challenge and The Real World, broke up in recent months, and while Nessa has not yet been photographed with Kaepernick, rumors regarding their relationship have continued to swirl.

Although the circumstances would lead most to believe the two men's alleged fight was in regard to Kaepernick's love life, the source went on to tell TMZ Sports it was unclear "if Smith and Kaep exchanged any words before the fight broke out ... or if Nessa's name ever came up."

As TMZ previously reported, Smith was arrested earlier this morning and charged with hit and run, DUI and vandalizm. Hours later, he was released from the San Francisco 49ers.

The DUI charge was the second for Smith, who was also caught driving under the influence in 2013. At that time, he was suspended for nine games.

Smith was released from custody on Friday after posting $26,000 bail.
