John McAfee Arrested, Still Blogging In Jail
Guatemalan authorities arrested anti-virus mogul John McAfee on Wednesday night and he has been posting on her personal blog from jail, with five new entries at time of publication uploaded on Thursday morning alone.
The 67-year-old was wanted by police for questioning in regards to the death of his neighbor.
In one entry, posted at 5:24 a.m. on Thursday and titled "Blogging from Jail," McAfree wrote, "I am in jail in Guatemala. Vastly superior to Belize jails. I asked for a computer and one magically appeared." He then added, "the coffee is also excellent."
He called blogging from jail "a groundbreaking activity" and also told readers to stay tuned for a press conference on Friday, as one was originally planned. McAfee also asked readers if anyone had friends in the State Department that would help him out and perhaps get him back into the United States, which he asked a deputy officer at the American Embassay about.
In a post uploade at around 10 a.m., titled "Can't Sleep," McAfee answered the questions of some readers. He said "One poster asked, in a kindly way, whether I felt like killing myself. My reply: 'I enjoy living, and suicide is absurdly redundant.' "
The creator of McAfee Anti-Virus confirmed earlier this week in a different post that he traveled with one companion, a 17-year-old girl he called "Sam." In Thursday's posts, he said she is fine and under his attorney's charge along with some Israeli bodyguards.
"Serious looking fellows with plenty of body mass. Made me worry a bit less about Sam, " he wrote.
McAfee is wanted by authorities in Belize who are investigating the murder of 52-year-old Gregory Faull, an American expatriate and neighbor of the anti-virus mogul. After Faull was fatally shot in the back of the head, McAfee fled police questioning on Nov. 11 and has since used his website to claim his innocence, according to The Huffington Post.
