Yandy Smith of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop New York is still defending her marriage to her Mendeecees Harris as a serious charge hangs over his head that could send him to prison for decades.

Smith was well aware of Harris’ trouble with the law. In fact, much of her story line in the fourth season of the show surrounded her struggle of him being in jail for roughly a year. Harris was accused of being involved in a drug ring. He pleaded guiltily earlier this year and could be going back to jail.

But that hasn’t stopped Smith from loving him and even tying the knot in a lavish, live, televised ceremony that aired on Memorial Day.

Smith told Wetpaint, “I’m not getting married because it’s good for right now. I'm not getting married because it’s bad for right now. This is something that’s, the good, the bad, the unsure, because they wake up cute. Because I don’t wake up cute and he still loves me.”

She went on to say that the current circumstances did stop her from marrying him or even rush her into marrying him. She’s confident that any jail time he might get has nothing on forever.

“It’s not just about the good times, it’s about forever, it’s a small period on our life. We have a lot of year to live. Small period.”

Harris also spoke on the matter with the publication. See his and Smith’s statements here.
