The world is honoring three American servicemen who happened to be in the right place at the right time to stop a potential terror attack on a train headed to Paris from Amsterdam last week.

The men-Alex Skarlatos, Anthony Sadler and Spencer Stone-childhood friends who were vacationing together have been praised all over the world by celebrities, government officials and other civilians for their heroic actions, which saw them subduing a man who was believed to be planning a massacre onboard the train on Aug. 21.

Alongside a fellow British passenger, Chris Norman, the men were awarded France's highest honor Aug. 24, with the Legion of Honor.

The men were all onboard a high-speed train bound for Paris when the gunman, since identified as Moroccan national Ayoub El Khazzani, appeared in their car and opened gunfire. They then worked together to subdue him and restrain him before the train arrived in Arras, France. During the struggle, Stone suffered injuries to his head, hand and neck.

Since the story broke, all three men have been touted as heroes, not only in France, but the U.S. as well, with high praise from government officials, celebrities, civilians and several others on social media.

Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, Anthony Sadler and Chris Norman are the kind of men the rest of us want to be like. Hats off to the heroes.
