Killer of Costia and a feared opponent of Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey) , the leader of the Ice Nation will finally make her debut in season 3, according to Entertainment Weekly. Dallas' Brenda Strong will take on the role.

Named Queen Nia, the Ice Queen has maintained her reign through "ruthlessness and savvy," a course of action that she pursues "even when it puts her at odds with those closest to her," according to Entertainment Weekly.

With Mount Weather's monstrous dominion at an end, the tenuous alliance between the 12 Grounder clans is no longer needed. While Lexa brokered this peace, and managed to rescue the Mountain Men's captives, she and the Trikru may soon find themselves threatened once again.

Actor Michael Beach, who has joined the season 3 cast as an Arker named Pike, previewed the new character on Twitter, indicating that Nia will appear within the first four episodes.

"Her make up & wardrobe is bad ass!" Beach teased on Monday. "@Brenda_Strong will be intimidating to say the least!"
