Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel will welcome their second child in December.

Did Thomas Ravenel Quit 'Southern Charm' After Filming Season 2?

Although the Southern Charm couple has had an up and down relationship since earlier this year, following filming on the series' second season, Dennis has just confirmed her and Ravenel's exciting baby news.

"I'm just excited about the baby," Dennis told PEOPLE Magazine on Wednesday. "And I'm happy [our daughter] Kensie will have a friend to play with. It's nice that they will be so close in age."

Dennis and Ravenel began dating after conceiving a child during the first season of Southern Charm. That child, daughter Kensington Calhoun, was born on March 24, 2014.

"I was surprised," Dennis said of discovering her second pregnancy. "Thomas and I are always on and off, but we had a whirlwind romance that weekend. That's kind of how we were with the first pregnancy, too. Things were wishy-washy, but we embraced it."

Although Dennis and Ravenel aren't exactly back on, Dennis said, "We are friends. We communicate and things are pleasant. That's all I can really hope for."

"It's been much more mellow and a little more peaceful. I haven't been sick or had any complications, which is good. I've been lucky," Dennis continued of her second pregnancy. "The greatest gift thus far in my life has been the privilege of being a father to my daughter Kensie. Now, with a son on the way, I feel doubly blessed. My cup runneth over."

Dennis shared the photo below with fans weeks ago, prior to her pregnancy announcement.

No word yet on Southern Charm season three.
