The answer to saving Agents of SHIELD's Simmons may lie in the hands of the Asgardians.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Fish Oil Pills To Kill Non-Inhuman Humans?

Agent Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is hell bent on finding his science wonder twin, and the engineer will continue the search long after the rest of SHIELD has moved on. In an effort to understand the Kree stone that swallowed up his pal, Fitz will turn to Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) world for help.

"Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), and Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life," ABC teased in regards to episode 2, "Purpose in the Machine."

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3 Premiere: Fitz 'Goes To Extremes' For Simmons, 'Laws Of Nature' Plot Revealed

Unfortunately, this does not appear to signal the return of Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander), and it certainly doesn't seem to harbinger the appearance of an Avenger. Nevertheless, fans will surely celebrate the arrival of any Asgardian that can help put Simmons back where she belongs.

Agents of SHIELD will return for its third season with "Laws of Nature." Season 2 left Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team riddled with problem and potential departures, and in influx of Inhumans will only make matter worse. Luckily, a time jump will allow Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Mack (Henry Simmons) to have their Secret Warriors project up and running as the season begins. Quake will be the only powered member (for now), but the fish oil pills will soon have the world swimming in potential recruits.
