Knight was captured by Ariel Castro in his house where he abused and tortured her for nearly 11 years before she found her escape. In the first few years of her time trapped in that house, two other girls Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus got kidnapped as well. Castro impregnated Berry where she had her child during her captivity. All of the girls met their freedom in May 2013. Castro was taken to prison and commit suicide one month into his sentence.

Knight mentioned that she plans to continue with public speaking to help motivate people to stay strong when hope seems impossible. Her story was turned into a Lifetime film starring Taryn Manning.

At this point, the former victims have seemed to move on with their lives as the strenght continues to build.
