Angela Bassett will make her American Horror Story: Hotel debut on this Wednesday's episode, playing the glamorous yet emotionally vulnerable actress Ramona Royale.

The Parents Television Council Is Completely Disgusted By 'American Horror Story: Hotel'

Ramona enters the picture just as her former lover The Countess (Lady Gaga) has cast aside yet another lover, Donovan (Matt Bomer). Ramona feels slighted by The Countess and wishes to seek revenge on her.

This is where Donovan comes into play. Bassett spoke with TVGuide.com recently and teased how Ramona and Donovan will find common interest moving forward.

Donovan 'Will Do Whatever It Takes' To Gain The Countess' Attention Again On 'AHS: Hotel'

"She needs a way in to find The Countess' vulnerable spot, so she enlists Donovan," Bassett said, of her character's motivations. "I think Donovan has been loved and discarded the same way Ramona has, so they have that in common with one another. Where it's going, I don't know, because he's still very fresh. It's been a moment for Ramona to process through. Although the pain is fresh, she's had some distance, the ability to wallow in it or process it. Rationally, he understands his position or lack of position in The Countess' life. But emotionally, he's still very, very much tethered."

Delving deeper into Ramona, we will soon find that she is just as susceptible to addiction as the other characters. But Ramona's addiction doesn't stem from hard drugs or alcohol. Ramona craves the fame and the attention.

"She was an actress. She wanted to be appreciated, adored, and The Countess gives her that," Bassett noted. "She adores her and appreciates her. And I think that's intoxicating to her and I think that's what she's wanted. It's what she sought. And if she couldn't be fulfilled that way career-wise, she was in her personal life."

As for this season of American Horror Story, which is her third consecutive, Bassett described it as "unapologetic," "unrelenting" and "the most horrific so far." We've seen through two episodes that this season is definitely more bent towards disturbing the audience, so we can only imagine what Ryan Murphy and company have planned for the rest of the season.

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
