The next episode of ABC's Once Upon a Time will be a very significant one for Merida (Amy Manson) and Rumple (Robert Carlyle).

Why 'Once Upon a Time' Star Elliot Knight Doesn't Like To Predict What Happens Next

ABC has released a new plot synopsis for The Bear and the Bow, the upcoming sixth episode of the show's current fifth season. As suggested by the title, this episode will center on Merida as she continues her quest to save her brothers while still dealing with Emma (Jennifer Morrison).

The plot synopsis reads as follows:

How Does Belle Get 'Really Strong This Year' On 'Once Upon a Time'?

"In a Camelot flashback, a chance encounter with Merlin [Elliot Knight], David [Josh Dallas], Hook [Colin O'Donoghue] and Belle [Emilie de Ravin] gives Merida new hope in her quest to save her brothers from the usurping clans of DunBroch. Unwilling to leave anything up to fate, Merida brings Belle along on a dangerous journey that culminates with an invaluable lesson in bravery.

"In Storybrooke, Regina [Lana Parrilla], Mary Margaret [Ginnifer Goodwin] and David discover the spell that would allow one of Merlin's chosen to communicate with him, but when Arthur [Liam Garrigan] fails to reach the missing sorcerer the heroes grow suspicious. Meanwhile, Emma commands Merida to kill Belle in hopes of forcing Mr. Gold's heroic transformation. With Merida unable to disobey Emma's orders."

As seen in the promo for this episode, Emma is forceful in her request to Merida to kill Belle. The promo centers on Mr. Gold/Rumple and Belle's relationship, with Rumple facing off against a bear, a.k.a. his "greatest fear." Rumple stays calm through the encounter, telling the bear to "do your worst."

It should be an action packed episode for both Merida and Rumple.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
