New Once Upon a Time star Elliot Knight has stopped trying to guess what's going to happen next on the fantasy series.

Will We Learn King Arthur's True Intentions Next Time On 'Once Upon a Time'?

Knight, who plays Merlin on the ABC show, spoke with Parade recently where he admitted that he doesn't know what to expect from week to week.

The actor noted that it actually has an impact on his performance not knowing what's next.

How Does Belle Get 'Really Strong This Year' On 'Once Upon a Time'?

"I've stopped trying to guess what's happening, or even ask about it. They obviously let you know the big, important things ahead of time," he said. "There've been times where all the writers have been up in Vancouver where we're shooting and I'll sit down with them and be like, 'OK, so I read this script. What happens after?' And they'll refuse to tell me anything. It's wonderful sometimes to not really know what all is happening so you can't predict it. I think there's a lot to be said for how much they share with the actors. It definitely has an impact on how we play the characters. It's the most mysterious show I've ever been on."

Despite not knowing what's next, Knight did reveal what he would like to see in future episodes of Once Upon a Time. The actor said that the inclusion of characters from The Hunchback of Notre Dame would be interesting.

"In terms of coming to Once, and not in terms of storyline, but in Disney, I've always loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The music in that is brilliant as well," he said. "I love the story of Quasimodo, about someone who feels like they don't belong, but is pure of heart and has good intentions. It's a great message for a younger audience. It would be great to include something like that in the show."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
