Pre-production for season 2 is well underway, and with it comes the first new casting announcement. The crew of the Raza will receive a new series regular in the form of Melanie Liburd, according to Deadline.

While details regarding the newbie are scarce, showrunner Joseph Mallozzi dropped a few extra details on Tuesday, including the character's name.

"Who is Nyx?" Mallozzi teased. "Is she friend or foe? And what's her secret? (I only ask because, well, it would seem that every member of our crew has held some sort of secret.) For now, all I'm going to say is this: Galactic high security detention facility's make strange bedfellows!"

Season 2 will open in the wake of the freshman finale's jaw-dropping final minutes. The Raza's amnesiac criminals spent 13 episodes trying to reconstruct their pasts, but no one saw Six's (Roger R. Cross) betrayal coming. Nevertheless, the alleged terrorist showed his true colors when push came to shove, and his ties to the GA left his numerical pals unconscious and under arrest as the finale came to a close.
