Many fans hearts’ dropped after it was revealed that Love & Hip Hop New York star Mendeecees Harris was sentenced to nearly a decade behind bars. Now, his wife and mother of his two youngest children has confessed her initial reaction to the news.

What You Didn’t Know About Mendeecees Harris’ Sentence

“You never want to internalize living alone since you got into a commitment with your best friend…the person you want to wake up to every day of your life for the next sixty years if you’re so blessed to do so…So when I was told that I might possibly have to spend one night without my husband…heartbroken is not even the word for it.”

Still, Smith, who tied the knot with Harris in a live television special this past May, said that she is well prepared for it this time around.

Fans might remember that Harris was in jail for season four the show as Smith spent time fighting to get himreleased on bail. But this time around, Smith and Harris see his jail time coming.

“I can prepare myself. I can prepare my life. We already started to prepare. I think knowing is half the battle for me. The unexpected is what I really couldn’t deal with and where I had a hard time.”

Harris pleaded guilty to drug trafficking earlier this year. He is said to have transported drugs—cocaine and heroin to be exact—between New York City and the Rochester area. Fans can still watch their story unfold on Love & Hip Hop New York Mondays at 8/7c on VH1.
