HBO's The Leftovers has finally be embraced by an awards organization.

Why Damon Lindelof Says Ending 'The Leftovers' Is 'A Gut Instinct'

Fresh off a renewal for season 3, The Leftovers scored major nominations today from the Critics' Choice Awards. The organization announced their selections for excellence in television and movies, and it is clear that they fell in love with The Leftovers this year.

The HBO series scored a nomination for Best Drama Series for the first time, along with acting nominations for Justin Theroux (who plays Kevin Garvey), Carrie Coon (Nora Durst), Christopher Eccleston (Matt Jamison), Ann Dowd (Patti Levin) and Regina King (Erika Murphy).

Why 'The Leftovers' Fans Went To HBO HQ Dressed As Guilty Remnant

This is a major increase from the previous Critics' Choice Awards, where the show was only able to score nominations for Coon and Eccleston.

The Leftovers has mostly been snubbed by awards organizations such as the Emmys, which completely overlooked the series earlier this year. It also has not been able to score nominations from the Golden Globes or the SAG Awards.

It remains to be seen if The Leftovers will win any Critics' Choice Awards, considering it faces steep competition in many categories from shows like USA's Mr. Robot, Fox's Empire and Showtime's Penny Dreadful.

Regardless, this is a big victory for The Leftovers as fans continuing rejoicing over HBO's decision to renew it for a third season. This will also serve as the final season of the show, however.

HBO has not yet announced a specific premiere date for The Leftovers season 3.
