It’s been twenty years since “Saved By the Bell” went off the air but surprisingly enough, there has yet to be a reunion for the cast. That is until, Dennis Haskins or “Mr. Belding” dropped in on a “Today Show” interview in progress for Tiffani Thiessen, Feb 5. Still, two out of seven cast members isn’t bad.

Thiessen, 39, played cheerleader “Kelly Kapowski” on “Saved By the Bell” which aired from 1989-1993. Since then, Thiessen has moved on to more serious roles like her current hit on the USA network, “White Collar.” On the show, the actress plays the role of Elizabeth Burke, an event planner and the wife of Peter Burke, senior FBI agent on the comedy-drama.

“Hey, hey, hey, what’s going on here?”, Haskins asked while walking on to the set taking on his old tone as Mr. Belding. Thiessen appeared to be taken back by surprise.

“Today” anchors Natalie Morales, Willie Giest, Al Roker, and Thiessen all participated in a mock TV trivia game show, with Haskins moderating. The set design was reminiscent of “The Max”, the teen burger joint “A.C. Slater”, “Kelly Kapowski”, “Lisa Turtle”, “Zack Morris”, “Jessie Spano” and “Screech” would meet at after school.

Odds for a real reunion are bleak though, as Dustin Diamond who played the role of Samuel “Screech” Powell wrote a tell-all book called “Behind the Bell” which exposed his cast mates in 2009.

However, Haskins thinks that timing is the real cause for the reunion delay. “It’s not like something is holding it up – I think it’s a matter of timing and finding something that everyone wants to do,” he said on “Today.” “There’s some issues with Dustin, he wrote a book that wasn’t real positive.” He added, “I worked with Dustin for 11 years, he was my sidekick and we had a great relationship.”
