Beyonce's husband, Sean "Jay-Z" Carter was so proud of his wife and her success with her performance from the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday that he threw her a lavish surprise party not long after she performed.

The rap mogul reportedly spent a whopping $170,000 for the party, champagne and a gift for the "Halo" singer.

"Beyoncé was over the moon with the surprise party," a source told Contact Music.

The "Watch The Throne" rapper also surprised her with a luxury gift to display how proud he was for her show, which is an all-time career high for the Houston native. The 43-year-old gave her a diamond-encrusted watch that is worth almost $95,000.

The Brooklyn Nets part-owner did not spare any expenses to further show his love - he spent almost $80,000 in champagne alone for the post-show fete.

He surprised onlookers when he popped open a very expensive bottle of champagne worth $15,000 by pouring it on his wife's head as well as her Destiny's Child band mates.

''The room was full of expensive champagne," said the source.

''Everyone was watching as Jay-Z scooped her up for a kiss," said the eyewitness. "But then suddenly he grabbed a giant bottle of pink Armand de Brignac champers, shook it up, and sprayed it over her, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

''They were all laughing and dancing and didn't seem to mind getting their hair getting wet," the source added. "He even soaked all of their hickory chicken wings and club sandwiches. He wanted that to be her moment and didn't want to take away from it. She's been working her ass off'."

This year's Super Bowl was the third most watched show in television history, according to Deadline.

Beyonce's set included a brief reunion with her Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. The Houston native performed Crazy In Love, Halo, Independent Woman Part 1 and Single Ladies.
