The rapper and now producer, Nicki Minaj just recently announced that she will be releasing a sitcom together with ABC Family about her life. She also reveals that she personally handpicked the series of cast in the show.
The 33-year-old excitedly announced on her social media account that she has "hand-picked" the cast of the new ABC Family (soon to be Freeform) sitcom based on her life. The single-camera, half-hour show is inspired by the superstar's upbringing in Queens, and will film in New York City this winter, E! News reports.

"I am honored and excited to announced that I've literally hand picked the main characters of my scripted series," the executive producer announced in an instagram post. "I've been going to the auditions falling in love with some incredible people. Looking forward to unveiling this groundbreaking new show for you guys in 2016!"

As reported by E! News, up-and-comer Ariana Neal will be playing young Nicki, while Selita Ebanks will play her mom, Grace, Wesley Jonathan will play her father, Vincent, and McCarrie McCausland will play her older brother, Jaylen. Whoopi Goldberg will guest star as the family's neighbor, Miss Martha.
Minaj, who has acted in The Other Woman and voiced characters in Ice Age: Continental Drift and Steven Universe, will also appear on the show.
