Ethan Couch, who was previously spared a prison sentence in a deadly drunken-driving accident because of an "affluenza" defense that suggested he suffered from psychological problems stemming from his parents wealth, has been detained by Mexican authorities after two weeks on the run.

Couch, along with his mother, was arrested by Mexican authorities outside of the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, where they have allegedly been hiding since going on the lam two weeks ago after Couch missed a check-in with his probation officer.

Couch was sentenced to 10 years probation and a stint at a rehab facility near Newport Beach, California which offered him yoga, cooking classes and mixed martial arts as therapeutic treatments, after dodging a 20-year prison sentence in 2013 when a psychiatrist argued he was afflicted with "affluenza" by parents who let him do as he wish, meaning he didn't comprehend how severe his actions had been.

Couch was 15 at the time, and killed four people during his drug and alcohol fueled joyride.

Many have since taken to Twitter to comment on Couch's arrest, noting the bad dye job he had done to disguise his identity (his light colored locks are now black), and mocking the fact that he and his mother could have gone into hiding anywhere else in the world, but chose the resort.
