In the picture, Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson on the show, poses with Peter Scanvino, who portrays Dominick Carisi, Jr. Both are dressed in uniform and wearing an intense look for the camera. Hargitay posted the picture on Instagram, which was retweeted by the official account of Law & Order: SVU to get fans amped up for the show's return on January 6:

The midseason premiere is going to be an intense episode. Greg Yates (Dallas Roberts) will be back: The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that the dreaded yet charming serial killer will be making a comeback to the NBC series.

Yates was a focus in season 17 premiere of the NBC procedural, and will now be returning in the crossover episode set to air in February, according to the report. In fact, he will be the center of attention again, as the investigation teams will be trying to nab Yates, who has escaped from prison.

Season 17 Hits Ratings High With Latest Episode 

The preview for midseason premiere of Law & Order: SVU is also finally out now. In the clip, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and crew are struggling with a case of a teacher who plays sexual predator. The teacher is seen having sex with her school students, and Benson tries to assess when her offense can be classified as being rape. As the case progresses, the plot thickens as the team finds out that there are, in fact, two predators in the school.

The episode is aptly titled, "Catfishing Teacher," and here's the one line synopsis:

"A high school student and his female teacher have an affair however he disappears."

"Catfishing Teacher" will air on January 6.
