Only Yesterday is a 1991 Japanese animated drama film from the legendary Studio Ghibli, written and directed by Academy Award-nominated Isao Takahata. The film received critical acclaim and has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film remains the only theatrical Studio Ghibli feature not yet released on home video in the United States or Canada. The film's home video release and distribution rights in North America belong to Disney.

GKIDS announced in 2015 that it will release the film in theaters in North America in 2016 along with an English dub, with actors Daisy Ridley, Dev Patel, Ashley Eckstein and Alison Fernandez confirmed to lend their voices.

"For a film to centre on a woman in the Sixties and Eighties and be released 25 years ago, and with cinema still being where it is today, with people not being represented right, is very exciting." Ridley said in an exclusive interview with EW.

It is scheduled for release Jan. 1, 2016 in New York City and nationwide in the United States on Feb. 26, 2016.
