This Insane 'Sky Ladder' Fireworks By A Chinese Artist Is A 'Stairway To Heaven'

This YouTube video by XxAzetxX shows a “Sky Ladder,” a pyrotechnic artwork by Cai Guoqiang, a Chinese contemporary artist currently living and working in New York City. Cai is best known for using gunpowder in his spectacular works. Sky Ladder, referred to by some as a “stairway to heaven,” was dedicated to the artist’s grandmother, who just celebrated her 100th birthday.

It was carried out using a large weather balloon pulling on a 500-meter long wire ladder studded with fireworks and gunpowder, according to Yahoo News.

The footage shows the amazing display ignite and slowly catch light, creating the effect of a golden ladder across the sky. The effect is stunning and the ladder continued to glow dramatically against the evening sky.
