Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced on Tuesday he will fight Robert Guerrero on May 4 in a multi-fight deal that will move him to Showtime after being with HBO for several years, according to The Associated Press.

Mayweather is one of the biggest names in boxing and his move to Showtime is an apparent lose for HBO. His new deal with Showtime and CBS could include up to six fights over 30 months, with his first one scheduled against WBC's interim welterweight champion Guerrero. The fight will likely be held at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, the news report noted.

"On May 4th I'm going to shock the world," Guerrero tweeted. Mayweather turns 36 on Feb. 24 and is the unbeaten WBC 147-pound champion, though he has not fought since beating Miguel Cotto on May 5, 2012. He then had more than two-month stay in a Las Vegas jail in the summer of 2012 as part of his sentence for being involved in a domestic violence case with the mother of his three children, Josie Harris.

Guerrero is a onetime featherweight champion who has not lost a fight since 2005. His last match was against welterweight Andre Berto in November of 2012, in which Guerrero knocked him out in both the first and second rounds.

Mayweather had a history with HBO and starred in its 24/7 reality series before each of his last six fights.

"We made an aggressive and responsible pay-per-view offer," HBO said in a statement from spokesman Kevin Flaherty. "Now we move on. We are focused on the best boxing franchise in the television business. We are proud of the roster of superstar fighters and emerging stars who are scheduled to appear on the multiple HBO television platforms this year."
