The Galatasaray side faces off against Schalke in what should be a highly competitive Champions league matchup on Wednesday.

Galatasary currently holds a six-point cushion at the very top of the Turkish Super Lig and will enter the tie after an effective January transfer window saw the acquisitions of Didier Drogba and Wesley Snejder from Shanghai Shenhua and Inter Milan respectively.

Fatih Terim's team has only come up short in one of its last 10 league matches, while Drogba has made an almost instantaneous impact after scoring in his first game last Friday.

Galatasaray is looking to become the first Turkish team to advance to the Champions league quarterfinals since Fenerbache did it in 2008. The team has conceded 196 European Cup goals while Schalke has 45.

On the other hand, it's been a different story for the visiting Schalke, who have dropped from second place in the middle of November to their current spot in ninth.

Skipper Huub Stevens had been removed by the 2011 Champions League semi-finalists in December, as he was replaced by youth team coach Jens Keller.

Keller was victorious in his first league game against Hanover via 5-4 margin, but has come up short in winning any of the last four league games. On the bright side, Benedikt Howedes and Roman Neustadter have yet to miss a single minute in Schalke's campaign thus far.

The Champions League showdown is set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 9:45 p.m. EET.
