In Friday's report from TV Line, a new character named Cortez will be joining the series later this season. Cortez is describes as a "callous, smart and manipulative vampire from the Mikaelsons' past who comes to New Orleans seeking vengeance."

And who is this vengeance upon? Klaus, apparently.

"Cortez is someone who was sired by a unique circumstance," executive producer Michael Narduci told the site. "He has a very interesting perspective, particularly on Klaus. He's of Klaus' sire line, but he was not sired by Klaus. He's a very intriguing character, one of the most dangerous folks we've met."

Cortez will be played by actor Matt Cedeno. His previous credits include Days of Our Lives, Romancing the Bride and Hot Tamale. He also played Vasquez in Z Nation, Alejandro in Devious Maids and Chuy in Rosewood.

Meanwhile, it was reported from Carter Matt that things are about to get even more insane following the potential death of Cami. As she's left for dead, Klaus will declare war on Tristan and Aurora. Hayley and Jackson are also going to be some kinds of pawns in Tristan's game.

Vincent will also be forced to use magic against his will, which could lead into something horrible.

The Originals returns on Friday, January 29 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
