Over the summer, the Agents of SHIELD cast kept mum about Melinda May's season 3 role. AS we await the midseason premiere, the Marvel cone of silence has come down once more.

Ming-Na Wen's Agent May had a rough first half of the season, no small part of which was due to the Andrew Garner/Lash (Blair Underwood) debacle. Now that Lash is out and murdering once more, Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team will have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

"There is definitely a transition in May trying to figure out how to not have her emotions, just to keep it in check the way she normally does," Wen informed IGN. "Because she's been tapping more and more into her humanity and opening her heart to various situations this past season, I think she wants to continue, but is reluctant to because she feels like perhaps it might be detrimental to her as an agent."

We saw that dichotomy when May chose to shoot Lash, and the decision to hand her ex over to the ATCU nearly shattered her steely façade. At least when the winter premiere rolls around, she won't be facing these decisions alone. According to Wen, the platonic Coulson/May team up is back on.
