Rachel McAdams and her Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen ended their two-year relationship, Us Weekly reported Wednesday.

McAdams, 34 and Sheen, 44, met while filming the Woody Allen movie and took their romance public in October of 2010. During her time with the British actor, the actress said she was devoted to making their relationship work by never having them spend more than three weeks apart.

"We rack up a lot of air miles, but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not," she added.

In January, McAdams told The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine about how much she valued honesty in a relationship: "You need to trust each other and be able to talk to each and be best friends."

No reason has yet been reported behind the break up.

McAdams said prior to their reported split that they tried their best to manage the long-distance aspect of the relationship. The Vow actress' last serious relationship was with Ryan Gosling. The two became a couple in 2005 and were briefly engaged but called it quits in 2007. Sheen endured an eight-year relationship with Kate Beckinsale from 1995 until 2003. The two have a 14-year-old daughter together named Lily.

Sheen previously said McAdams is "genuinely lovely," as well as a "stunningly beautiful and very talented" lady.

Daily Mail reported that the couple's relationship may have turned sour when Sheen revealed he quit Twitter in October 2012 because of the mean comments he received for dating McAdams.

"On the one hand Twitter gives you the opportunity to engage with people, which is great, but on the other there are people who feel they can say whatever they want, put poison out there, really, without fear of any repercussions," he said.
