'The 100' Season 3 Spoilers: Which 'Ship Is Over? This Character Will NOT Return This Year

Neil Gaiman's seminal work presented readers with an incredibly vague visual of its main character, and this paucity of descriptors had potential viewers worried that Bryan Fuller's latest series would fall into Hollywood's whitewashing trap. Now that The 100's Ricky Whittle has snagged the No. 1 spot on the call sheet, it's safe to say the Starz drama has neatly avoided it's first major mishap.

"I'm thrilled that Ricky has been cast as Shadow. His auditions were remarkable," Gaiman announced. "The process of taking a world out of the pages of a book, and putting it onto the screen has begun. American Gods is, at its heart, a book about immigrants, and it seems perfectly appropriate that Shadow will, like so much else, be coming to America. I'm delighted Ricky will get to embody Shadow. Now the fun starts."

Whittle is currently in his final days of filming as Lincoln for The 100's third season. Lincoln is Stoic and unflinching, and Whittle's time as the Grounder has proved that the Brit has everything it takes to play Mr. Moon (see video below).

American Gods will head in front of the camera this April.
