The undefeated Chicago Blackhawks (16-0-3) will look to remain flawless when they take on the St. Louis Blues (10-6) on Thursday night at the Scottrade Center.

The Blackhawks' inane ability to win the close games has been a crucial reason for the team's record start. However, much like the NHL's best hockey club, the Blues have grown used to performing in tight matchups as well.

Looking for their seventh consecutive win, the visiting Chicago side indeed anticipates a tough challenge from St. Louis.

The Blackhawks extended its league record for most games without a regulation loss to start a season by coming back to beat Edmonton on Monday. Marian Hossa netted the winning goal to help the team finish off its 6-0-1 home stand.

"Without sounding arrogant, it's just business as usual. We keep finding ways to win. That's important at any time of the year. Those one-goal games, we're on the right side of them," forward Patrick Sharp told ESPN.

In games that are decided by one goal, the Blackhawks are 10-0-3. Each of its last five and all but one on its home stretch were decided by that margin.

"Seven games in a row at home ... that's a tough thing to get points out of every game," coach Joel Quenneville told the NHL's official website. "It was good for the guys.
