Mr. Robot's season 2 will feature a massive fallout from its freshman finale - both for the larger world and the world inside Elliot's head.

'Mr. Robot' Season 2: How Much Story Is Left? Writers 'Beholden' To Preplanned Ending

Elliot's (Rami Malek) fsociety hack threw the world into chaos, but for the hacker, Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is the real problem. While viewers didn't find out about Elliot/Mr. Robot twist until the penultimate episode, Malek informed Entertainment Weekly that the sophomore run will "delve much more into the psychosis and his mental illness."

"This whole show has been about Elliot's emotional journey, so Season 2 is about how Elliot reconciles the fact that he's seeing this fantasy," series creator Sam Esmail explained at the 2016 Television Critics Association Winter press tour, according to TV Insider. "It's going to be about Elliot really negotiating with himself since that's a tough pill to swallow."

Mr. Robot has not yet begun filming for season 2, but that little fact hasn't stopped Malek from thinking about his troubled character. For the star of the Golden Globe series, Elliot is never far from his mind.

"I feel like I've been preparing [for season 2] ever since, I think I took a few days off, but it just never leaves your head," Malek told Entertainment Weekly.
