A Czech Republic court acquitted Randy Blythe, frontman for the U.S. heavy metal band Lamb of God, on charges that he caused the 2010 concert death of a teenage fan.

The court ruled on Tuesday that the 42-year-old vocalist was not guilty of manslaughter for pushing the victim off a stage, which caused his head to be injured on a concrete floor. Blythe was charged with causing bodily harm to 19-year-old Daniel Nosek with lethal consequences during a concert at Prague's Abaton club in 2010, according to Billboard.

Originally Blythe was not aware that he had a warrant issued for his arrest when he returned to Prague last June for a concert. He was held for five weeks in the European prison before being released on bail. He returned to the U.S. until the trial was set to start and he traveled back to the Czech Republic to fight the charges.

The heavy metal singer pled not guilty and state prosecutors are in the process of appealing the verdict in order to demand a five-year-prison term from Prague's Municipal Court.

Blythe was quoted by The Gauntlet as he told the court that he was innocent but felt remorse over the death of the fan.

"I know I did not hurt or want to hurt anybody that night," Blythe said. "I can understand the pain that the family of Daniel is experiencing. Daniel was a fan of my band. I had no wish to harm him. He was just a boy and I wish he was still here. If ultimately the Czech legal system sentences me to prison, I will do my sentence like a man. I have searched for an answer to this situation, the only one I can find to this tragic and horrible accident."

While Blythe was not found in blame for the incident, the panel of Czech judges ruled that concert promoters are largely to blame instead, according to Rolling Stone magazine.
