Demi Lovato revealed during a radio interview on Monday that she has an older half-sister that she did not know existed.

The 20-year-old singer made the announcement on WBLI's Dana & Jeffrey in the Morning radio show where she opened up about the surprise discovery.

"I just got to know ... I have an older sister that I've never known my whole life," the X Factor judge explained. "She's in her 30s. She's my half-sister. I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20 [in August 2012]."

Lovato told the morning show crew that she was first puzzled by the news and why there was never any previous connection between the sisters.

"I asked her, 'Why haven't you ever contacted me?'" Lovato explained. "She said 'Well, because I never wanted you to think that I wanted anything from you. So I've just been waiting to see if you wanted a relationship.'"

The singer was reportedly touched by her half-sisters offer for a relationship and said she is excited to get to know her better.

The name of the new sister has not yet been released, according to Yahoo News. She will join the others sisters related to the singer that include 25-year-old Dallas Lovato and 11-year-old Madison De La Garza.

The Heart Attack singer was also asked about her recent love life but Lovato denied to comment on the matter.

Lovato tweeted a message about her on-again-off-again boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama on Jan. 30 that stated: "To the one and only @WillyVille - I only hope the world can see what an incredible man you are.. Happy Birthday Wilmer, you deserve it. :)"

The social media message was posted after she apparently took a break from Twitter citing "trouble" in her life, according to AOL News. The latest tweet to Valderrama left her fans wondering if the pair are back together for good.
