If there's one thing that Katie Holmes knows how to do when it comes to the media, it's avoiding answering any questions about her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.

Holmes avoided what would have been an awkward situation when The Today Show's Matt Lauer tried to ask her a question about Tom Cruise's famous clash with him during an interview back in 2005. When Lauer tried to challenge him about the merits of antidepressants and similar medications, the actor said, "You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do."

On Wednesday, Holmes sat down with Lauer to discuss her new movie, Touched With Fire and her role is a bipolar poet, that's when the morning television show host tried to get the actress to finally open up about her thoughts on her ex.

What Does Tom Cruise Think Of Katie Holmes Dating His 'Collateral' Co-Star?  

When Lauer tried to bring the interview up by saying, "You and I both remember a heated discussion I got into on that subject here in this studio. How do you think the movie comes down on that?" that's when Holmes managed to address and acknowledge it without directly answering his question.

Instead, Holmes deflected back to the movie by saying, "What I think our director [Paul Dalio] did a wonderful job with is this movie just kind of shows, this is it."

She then added, "These are these two characters in a love story, which he's saying is kind of its own kind of mania, to fall in love. But he puts the question out there for the audience to make their own decision."
