Outlander fans won't have to wait long to meet the sinister Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber). As soon as Claire steps foot on French soil, the Dragonfly in Amber villain will be on her radar.

Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) bid farewell to Scotland at the end of season 1, and the pair will open the spring run far from tartan and swords. Comte St. Germain, however, will prove that danger is always lurking around the next corner.

"Obviously Claire's big mouth gets her into trouble straight away," Balfe told TV Guide. "They haven't even gotten off the dock...when she gets into trouble. But this introduces the character of Comte St. Germain, who is played wonderfully by Stanley Weber."

Very quickly, viewers will be surrounded by a host of new characters.

"This is the great thing about the show, there's such forward momentum," Balfe explained. "You never really stay in one place or one time so we constantly have this influx of great new characters."
