Astronaut Scott Kelly's "year in space" will be chronicled in a PBS special airing tonight on television - find out when and how to watch it.

Kelly successfully returned from a year in space last night. In the upcoming special A Year In Space, viewers will get to see his preparation to head into outer space for 12 months and much more. The special "tracks Scott Kelly's mission from training and launch, through his 12 months aboard the International Space Station, right up through his descent and landing," says PBS.

A Year In Space will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT on PBS and lasts for one hour. This is the first of two parts, with the second episode airing at some point in 2017.

Kelly's trip was designed to test the limits of human capacity in space in order to lay groundwork for a voyage to Mars.

"A YEAR IN SPACE is an incredible opportunity to immerse audiences into an exciting current event, nearly in real-time," says Beth Hoppe, Chief Programming Executive and General Manager, General Audience Programming, PBS. "However, it is also a compelling human drama exploring the potential tragedies or triumphs of exploration. It is as close to a feature film as any documentary can get."

Unfortunately, PBS does not have an official live streaming site, so if you want to watch the Year in Space special you'll have to see it on television. It remains to be seen if PBS will put the special up on their website after it airs. You can go here to see if they have uploaded the special online.
