Is there a chance that Scotty will return to The Affair?

While that would seem unlikely since Scotty's dead, there might be a possibility that his character could have some sort of relevance for the show's future.

In Sunday's report from Digital Spy, Colin Donnell, who plays Scotty, told the site that while he doesn't know if his character will make a specific appearance, he's still going to be talked about.

"I haven't had any discussions, but they do certainly play with time a bit over there," Donnell said. "As far as I know right now, Scotty is very much dead...and I think the car crash was pretty good evidence of that!"

Whether he comes back or not, being on the Showtime drama added a busier schedule for the actor who currently stars on Chicago Med.

"There were quite a few seven-day weeks in there," Donnell said. "But I certainly feel zero room to complain. It feels like a huge blessing to be able to be a part of two successful series and get to play two very different characters."

As for other characters who are expected to change on The Affair, Maura Tierney (Helen) explained to Variety how she hopes her character's past issues will make her stronger in future episodes.

"I think of her as a woman struggling to handle a very difficult situation," Tierney said about Helen. I think she doesn't know how to gracefully handle all of this bad stuff. I don't think she's consciously trying to be graceful, but I want her to achieve that because I think that shows a lot of integrity if you can handle tough times with a certain amount of equanimity."

The Affair Season 3 is expected to premiere this fall on Showtime.
