WARNING: IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN SEASON 6, EPISODE 15 OF THE WALKING DEAD, "EAST," DO NOT CONTINUE. THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THE EPISODE.

Fans of The Walking Dead likely had a collective mouth-dropping moment at the conclusion of the show's most recent episode.

"East," which aired on Easter Sunday, started off tamely enough, showing a more tranquil side of life in Alexandria again, with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) cuddling in bed together while Glenn (Steven Yuen) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) enjoyed themselves in the shower—but things quickly began to deteriorate for the group as Carol (Melissa McBride) slipped out of town unnoticed and Daryl (Norman Reedus) went off on what was deemed to be something like a suicide mission to avenge Denise's (Merritt Weaver) death.

Glenn, Michonne and Rosita (Christian Serratos) quickly took off after Daryl, while Rick and Morgan (Lennie James) opted to follow Carol. And while Rick and Morgan's outing ended with the two parting ways—Rick headed back to Alexandria while Morgan insisted on continuing the search for Carol alone—the rest of the group did not fare as well.

After catching up with Daryl and failing to convince him that going after Dwight (Austin Amiello) wouldn't end well, Rosita went to join him, while Glenn and Michonne wound up as captives of the very man Daryl was trying to track. But in a shocking twist, as Daryl closed in on them, Dwight wound up behind him, with a gun pointed at his head, and the episode faded to black immediately after Daryl turned around, Dwight fired, and a large amount of blood hit the camera. The only thing that fans had to go on to determine Daryl's fate, were Dwight's chilling last words as the episode officially closed: "You'll be alright."

Naturally, fans have assumed the worst—that the show has killed off the fan favorite character, whom many have threatened riots over if he was ever killed. The threats were renewed again following the episode:

And while Norman Reedus isn't confirming if Daryl did die or not—or if he will survive only to meet his death when Negan arrives in next week's finale—he did confirm that it was definitely his character who took Dwight's bullet.

"Well, It's exactly what you see. I mean, that's Daryl's blood that you see. That's exactly what happens, exactly what you see," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
