A familiar face is returning to Call the Midwife later this year.

On Wednesday, BBC announced that Miranda Hart, who's known for playing Chummy on the acclaimed series, will be making an appearance in the sixth season for the Christmas special this year. It was also implied that she'll be part of Season 6 when it airs in 2017.

The site pointed out that Hart left the series after Season 4 due to other work commitments.

A spokesman for the production company said everyone had "been busting to share the news" of Hart coming back.

"We're thrilled to be once again featuring Miranda Hart and her fabulous blend of warmth, strength and vulnerability, as Chummy gets to grips with the medical and social challenges of the 1960s," the spokesman said.

There aren't too many details on the sixth year as far as as storyline since the fifth season just started airing in the United States.

Jenny Agutter, who plays Sister Julienne on the show, dished to Bustle on how the characters are embracing change as they embark upon a new generation.

"Suddenly there is a new energy and everything that had been held back during the war- the science, the arts, the music- everything surges on," Agutter said. "So you arrive in 1961 and it is a brave new world. There is more available, the NHS [National Health Service] is established, and everyone is beginning to expect so much. There's more liberties, more freedoms, and with it comes greater responsibility and more choices."

Call the Midwife airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on PBS.
