The fourth season of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black is all about pushing the envelope, according to star Laura Prepon.

Prepon, who plays Alex Vause on the prison comedy-drama, spoke with Parade recently about what's ahead for the upcoming fourth season.

While she did not reveal anything specifically, she did hint that the show might be going to some "taboo" places in season 4.

"The fourth season comes out June 17. It's really exciting. The fans are going to love it. I think it's one of our best seasons yet," she said. "I can't give away any spoilers, but the way it was written, nothing is taboo for [show writer and creator] Jenji Kohan, We go there and push the envelope. It's just so awesome."

In the last glimpse we saw of Alex in the season 3 finale, she was facing off against one of Kubra's (Eya Younis) stooges in the prison's greenhouse, obviously in a great deal of trouble. Considering her continued presence on the show, it can probably be assumed that she survives the encounter, but anything can happen on Orange Is the New Black.

One of the more pressing storylines for Alex is her up and down relationship with Piper (Taylor Schilling). Prepon spoke on their relationship in a previous interview, discussing whether the characters may ride off into the sunset someday.

"The Alex and Piper relationship is so awesome. It's so tumultuous...they love each other a lot. It's this crazy relationship, there's never a dull moment," she said. "I don't know if two people like that could ever ride off into the sunset, but we'll see what happens in season four. There's no shortage of stories to tell."

Orange Is the New Black season 4 drops on Netflix on June 17.
