Ginger Zee revealed her battle with anorexia on Monday night's episode of Dancing With the Stars.

Zee, who is now a finalist on Dancing With the Stars, spoke about her childhood fight with anorexia during the show. The Good Morning America anchor also discussed finally opening up about it in a new People report.

"It's a moment in my life that I've not shared with a lot of people," Zee said, of her struggles. "It's not something I'm proud of because it's a disease that I chose."

Zee said she is "really happy" with her body as she competes on the show, and hopes that her battle will open up a dialogue about the disease.

"I know a lot of people suffer from it and I hope that this will get the conversation going in the family," she said.

Zee added that her stepfather was instrumental in helping her overcome her struggles.

"My step-father is a saint. He came into our lives and he taught me about nutrition and self love and once I started to learn about taking calories in and working calories off, then I got obsessed with working out," she said. "Everybody goes through those stages. He helped me to get out of that moment in my life."

Her self-confidence has helped her excel through Dancing With the Stars. Zee, alongside her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, officially made it to the final week, alongside Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd and Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas. All three couples have had their highs and lows throughout the competition, and any one of them could conceivably win that coveted Mirrorball trophy.

The Dancing With the Stars finale airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
