The petition to renew Nashville for a fifth season continues to soar.

As of Monday, there are more than 87,000 signatures on the petition to save the series from cancellation. In fact, the petition scored more than 25,000 signatures in just two days.

The link suggested a few options on where the series could end up if a renewal ever happens. Perhaps, it could wind up on Netflix, Amazon or TNT. Another option is Hulu since the site already has access to the first few seasons of the series.

ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey previously opened up on the decision to let Nashville go as well as Castle, which was another surprising cancellation. As it turns out, the network had to put business first.

"In terms of behind the scenes things that were happening on both Castle and Nashville, the studios in each case were looking for the best creative and financial ways to make room for a ninth season of Castle or a fifth season of Nashville," Dungey said via Entertainment Weekly. "They were definitely engaged in a bunch of conversations at the studio they felt would set them up for the best [chance] of success should they get the order."

It wasn't an easy decision to cancel the shows, but the producers had to do what was best for the new line-up.

"In terms of what we were discussing internally on the network side, it was [what was] best for the schedule and, obviously, looking at ratings, looking at our own planning and looking at some of the new development," she continued. "A lot of those decisions really did come down to the wire, which is a difficult thing about these jobs. You have to weigh and measure a lot of different things."
