Black Goku will be introduced in Dragon Ball Super's upcoming arc, and he would be such a powerful force that it would require the Universe's most powerful beings to stop him. Though his identity remains a mystery, numerous fans are certain that Black Goku would indeed be present-day Goku 20 years into the future. The only question, of course, is why he became evil.

A possible motivation for Goku to turn evil might be found in the lines he spoke during his previous match with Hit. During their-their, Hit remarked that they were merely pawns in a massive game. Calmly, Goku simply stated, "For now."

Though this line is very brief, the context of Goku's statement is one that could not be denied. At the end of the day, Goku is a man whose very purpose is to be stronger. In fact, whenever he meets a being more powerful than him, Goku does everything in his power to match or exceed the one who bested him.

Considering that Dragon Ball Super already introduced the Gods of Destruction and the Omni King, beings far more powerful than Goku, in the story, it is possible that Goku would end up becoming evil after pursuing and failing to achieve a level of power that was never meant to be granted to a man in the first place. For example, it is almost certain that Goku could never achieve power beyond that of the Omni King.

It is important to note that Black Goku is Goku 20 years from the present. Thus, his strength must be far beyond what present-day Goku has. In fact, considering his dark nature, it is possible that in Future Trunks' timeline, Black Goku has become so strong that he has already become more powerful than the Gods of Destruction themselves.

With Black Goku too powerful even for the gods to handle, the key to the Black Goku problem might actually lie in a very unlikely character. After all, this particular character has made it his life's mission to pursue Goku's level. Thus, even with Goku exceeding the level of the Gods of Destruction, his only real challenger might be in the form of his rival and friend, Vegeta.

In a lot of ways, this particular possibility is very interesting. After all, with Vegeta being on the side of good and Black Goku being evil, the anime would be able to present the third and final rematch between the series' two most iconic characters in a scenario that is arguably the most unexpected one yet.

Plus, with Black Goku certainly able to achieve a far more powerful form of Super Saiyan God, it would be interesting to see Vegeta reach a similar level. Perhaps Black Goku would go Super Saiyan God Black while Vegeta would go Super Saiyan God White. If such a thing does happen, then the excitement of Dragon Ball fans would surely go off the roof.

Of course, these are but speculations. However, it is undeniable that this particular possibility is one that would surely take the Dragon Ball narrative into levels far beyond what it has achieved thus far. With the stakes in the upcoming arc seemingly raised to extremely high levels, the Black Goku arc would surely be Dragon Ball Super's most epic story yet.
