Lazaro Arbos, one of the top six remaining contestants on American Idol, is making headlines not because of his phenomenal performance, but for giving possibly one of the worst performances this season.

Arbos is the only male contestant remaining on the show, but his huge slip-up last night, will surely cost him votes.

On Wednesday, the remaining contestants performed two songs - something from the Bacharach/David catalogue and a song they wish they'd written.

In Lazaro's first song, Close to You, he sang off pitch - making judge Randy Jackson speechless. "Yo. Wow. I'm actually kind of speechless. I think that's the worst performance you've ever had."

Mariah Carey agreed. "I say, what's the word, darling? Help me out! Lord in Heaven! Um..."

His second song was Robbie Williams' Angels, which was only slightly better than the first. However, the judges were not impressed and went on to praise the girls' performances of the night. "It's a girls' race right now for me," said Carey.

While Arbos gave the worst performance of the night, fellow contestant Candice Glover delivered the "best performance in 12 years," according to Jackson.

Glover's performance of Lovesong got judges to their knees and a standing ovation. "On behalf of all my judges up here, one of the greatest performances in history, 12 years of American Idol," Jackson told Glover after she performed Adele's version of Lovesong by The Cure.

Glover, a 23-year-old singer from South Carolina, could not help but break down in tears as the audience continously clapped and cheered up for her.

She has continuously been voted among the top three favorites so far in all episodes for this Season 12.
