Is The Flash racing towards Flashpoint? It's the question of the convention season, and it's one that is already garnering a few satisfactory answers.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) ended season 2 in the depths of a despair so dark the Scarlet Speedster could use it to trap Peek-a-Boo (Britne Oldford) for all eternity. The appearance of his father's doppelganger pushed Central City's hero over the edge, causing an emotionally devastated Barry to do the one thing Flash fans know he must never do - sprint back in time to save Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison), throwing his entire time stream into chaos in the process.

This seemingly minor alteration kicks off the events of Geoff Johns' Flashpoint, and the finale left fans wondering if the DC series is actually planning on tackling such an iconic storyline. Carlos Valdes (Cisco) addressed the question while speaking at Florida's MegaCon last weekend.

"I think there's every chance of a Flashpoint paradox. Some people expressed reservation about that -- why are we going there? -- but then some people were all about it," Valdes said, according to Comic Book. "I think I can say this without a doubt: wherever we go from here, it's going to be unique and it's going to be different and it's going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while at the same time, writing a new spin on it. I think it's that spirit that's allowed our shows to do as well as they do, so I ask the fandom to have faith."

Considering how well The Flash has handled the last two seasons, I hardly think lack of faith will be a problem. Aside from true diehard sticklers, most viewers have been overwhelmingly pleased with the series' creative decisions, and, baring any truly insane twists, we're looking forward to seeing a fresh take on the 2011 miniseries.
