'Deadliest Catch' Star Missing: Season 9 Premiere Misses Captain Elliott Neese [VIDEO]
One "Deadliest Catch" star was noticeably absent from the season 9 premiere, leaving fans a little bewildered and others very upset.
Captain Elliott Neese was expected by many to feature in the premiere, however, his absence has sparked controversy, although he has now reassured his fans that he will be featured on the show later on in the season.
"Crew showed up today, really gettin' to work on the boat we have 2 months to do a total retrofit/makeover I hope we can make our deadline!! I've never missed one… don't believe everything you see it a tv show there has to be drama and conflict and resolution its tv," Neese tweeted to fans.
It has even been reported that some of Neese's co-stars were surprised he wasn't featured on the episode and wondered if he would be returning.
"Elliott should be here. He should be ready to go," Scott Campbell, who works on the Seabrooke told Contact Music.
Neese has been a part of "Deadliest Catch" since 2010, and has been seen trying to catch as many Blue King Crab possible during the season.
His efforts ran into trouble though, and it took him almost a year to finally find himself and a good bounty of crab.
Despite his greater success it later turned out that the crabs Neese and his crew had caught were undersized, meaning that he had to turn them over to the state. That was an embarrassing episode for him and he received a citation for the undersized crab.
"In all honesty, I'm kinda not surprised Elliott isn't here this year," Sig Hansen told The Hollywood Reporter. "No owner is going to let a guy run a boat and not produce. You're going to lose your job. When you've got guys that are hungry, that's when things get nasty, that's when the gloves are off – especially when you've got experienced and inexperienced people playing in the same sandbox. That's when it's a war."
Meanwhile, a statement from the Discovery Channel has said: "While the skippers wage war for crab supremacy, the youth seek opportunity. Time Bandit deckhand Josh Harris attempts to keep his father's fishing legacy alive, while on the Northwestern, both Edgar Hanson and Jake Anderson's quest for a captain's chair becomes closer to reality."
