No matter what timeline they're in, The Flash's Iris West and Barry Allen will always find each other.

The Scarlett Speedster and his life-long crush ended season 2 on with a kiss and a promise for the future. Seconds later, however, Barry (Grant Gustin) left his post-Zoom (Teddy Sears) life behind to complete the rescue mission he attempted in last year's "Fast Enough." Unfortunately everyone else involved, a happy Allen family could spell disaster for the current timeline.

"For those of you who don't know, Barry's traveled back in time and I think we're all kind of wondering what that means for the timeline we know and love so much on The Flash," Candice Patton (Iris) said at Dallas Comic Con over the weekend. "We all know that time travel can't happen without changing the timeline so we need to see when Barry comes back how that's changed all his relationships, not just with Iris but with Joe and Caitlin and Cisco and everyone."

Of course, it's the fate of the WestAllen ship many in the fandom are concerned with. With Barry and Iris' front-porch romance still fresh in their minds, fans are wondering if the writers merely danged an untenable carrot in front of viewers.

"Iris has finally got to the point where she can pour her heart out to Barry and really want to form a relationship and then he goes back in time to save his mom. Come on!" Patton laughed. "But I think what we've established on this show is that Barry and Iris have a relationship that continually stands the test of time and crosses universes and timeline so I think no matter where we find them, we'll find them in a way that they have a close relationship."

Does that put your minds at ease, or will it be a long hiatus for WestAllen 'shippers? Sound off in the poll below!

The Flash will return to The CW this fall.
