NBC decided not to double up on the Revolution television series, planned to make up for tonight's postponement, due to news coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings.

In the series' place, the network will be airing a one-hour primetime special at 10 p.m. EDT on the Boston tragedy. NBC is now the only network to alter its primetime TV lineup for special coverage, according to Deadline.

Revolution's season 2 finale, which had been slated for May 27, will now air on June 3. This doesn't bode well for the program, as it recently made its return to unsatisfactory ratings.

According to Yahoo!, the pre-emption hasn't gone over well with NBC's scheduling staff, who currently find themselves in a frenzy for a solution. The dilemma lays in the fact that Revolution will now coincide with The Voice.

The series was initially expected to air all of its remaining 10 episodes without any hiccups. Revolution was already scheduled to go past its current season's timeslot, and will now be pushed even further into the summer because of the replaced news broadcast.

NBC won't be the only network airing a special on the disturbing course of events that transpired Monday in Boston. CBS will be showing an extended hour-and-a-half installment of its Evening News program starting at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
