The NBC series Hannibal is yet another television show to pull content in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The network announced Friday that the fourth episode of the serial killer drama featuring Mads Mikkelsen will not air next week as originally planed. Instead, episode five will run in its place.

Series creator Bryan Fuller made the call with both the Boston tragedy and the Newtown school shooting in mind, reports The Washington Post.

"I didn't want to have anyone come to the show and have a negative experience," Fuller stated, according to Variety. "Whenever you [write] a story and look at the sensational aspects of storytelling, you think, 'This is interesting metaphorically, and this is interesting as social commentary.' With this episode, it wasn't about the graphic imagery or violence. It was the associations that came with the subject matter that I felt would inhibit the enjoyment of the overall episode. ... It was my own sensitivity."

The episode, entitled "Ceuf," featured guest stars Molly Shannon and Gina Torres in a plot that involved children killing other children after being abducted and brainwashed, reports Yahoo!.

However, considering the fact that Hannibal is serialized, the network will be putting together clips to air online. These clips will not focus on the specific episode plot but will instead show character and plot development that contribute to the overall season arc, reports Variety.
