Jeanne Cooper has been readmitted to the hospital and her son has asked fans for their prayers once again.

Cooper, the iconic star of Young and the Restless, was first admitted to the hospital on April 12. Her son and actor Corbin Bernsen had given fans updates on her condition through social media. She had become so ill that she needed to be placed in ICU for an undisclosed illness.

The 84 -year old star was released from the hospital a few days later. Pictures were even shown on Cooper smiling in an attempt to reassure her fans and Bernsen tweeted about her progress.

"Embracing small steps and signs toward recovery. Wow!", he wrote.

However, her condition has taken another turn for the worse. Bernsen posted on Facebook that his mother had to be admitted for care once more this morning. He asked for an abundance of prayers.

"Not sure what to pray for at this point or what we even want for her. I know in my heart there is more for her to do in this world, but I also know there is a season for all things," he wrote.

Bernsen also shared that he just wanted his mother to have peace and comfort. He said he was being forced to ponder what to do in the worst case scenario.

"This is that tricky place where you start to weigh all things, not what we need to do, actions to take," he said.  "But instead open ourselves for enlightenment as to what God has planned for her and ultimately what is best for her."

Bernsen said that his mother was a fighter. He knew that she would continue to fight, but also said that her current ordeal was taking its toll. He wanted guidance on what to do.

"Again, not reporting "the end" here, just that tricky place at the precipice and those moments requiring deepest reflection," he said.

Cooper has played Katherine Chancellor on Y&R since 1973. She has earned two Daytime Emmys and 10 Daytime Emmy nominations. She published her memoirs, Not Young, Still Restless in 2012.
